Team Balliol turned out in impressive numbers for this year’s Oxford Town and Gown Fun Run, held on 10 May 2026.
Building on the success of previous years, this year’s team featured 64 runners – giving Balliol the joint second-largest team in the event, behind only St Catherine’s College. Participants included College staff, students, and Fellows, with strong support from across the Balliol community throughout the morning.
Amanda Tilley (Finance Bursar) commented: ‘The team really enjoyed the cooler weather this year and there was a real sense of camaraderie throughout the morning, from the photo at the start to the pastries at the end. We really appreciated the support from people around the course, especially as we ran past so many College buildings. We were especially proud of the two students who completed the race in cricket pads, as well as those who ran after attending the JCR Garden Party the night before. Some enjoyed it so much they have already signed up for the 2027 run.’
The growing popularity of the event suggests that the Town and Gown run is fast becoming an established part of the Balliol calendar.
