Floreat Domus is the College magazine, which contains news and features from the Balliol community. In this edition you’ll find highlights of College news, including recent awards for Balliol people, the two Ukrainian scholars whom Balliol welcomed in 2022 and Oxford’s Chief Diversity Officer, Professor Tim Soutphommasane (Balliol 2004); stories of alumni in different walks of life — from former NHS head Lord Stevens (Balliol 1984 and Honorary Fellow) to Naa Odoley Ntodi (Balliol 2018) who is supporting cocoa-growing communities — as well as a special feature on alumni who are working in the penal system, and another of Balliol stories relating to food.
The magazine takes its title from Balliol’s motto, Floreat Domus de Balliolo, which means ‘May the house of Balliol flourish’.
In News and Notes, a supplement to Floreat Domus, Balliol Old Members from around the world share their news.
Balliol College Annual Record
Each autumn Balliol also publishes its Annual Record, available on the publications page. This includes the Master’s Letter, a review of the College year, lists of new members and achievements, reports of the activities of the sports and societies, and obituaries of Fellows and Old Members, book reviews and specially commissioned articles, and a list of benefactors to the College.
