Floreat Domus is the College magazine, which contains news and features from the Balliol community. In this edition you’ll find highlights of College news, including recent awards for Balliol people and the naming of the College’s newest buildings after Balliol ‘greats’; a student writing about Balliol’s biodiversity audit and students’ reflections on how lockdowns affected their university experience; features on new books by Balliol people and stories of alumni in different walks of life, including the curators of the National Gallery’s Raphael exhibition and an alumnus whose work on genomics is transforming the future of healthcare — as well as a special feature on alumni who are working on environmental issues.
The magazine takes its title from Balliol’s motto, Floreat Domus de Balliolo, which means ‘May the house of Balliol flourish’.
In News and Notes, a supplement to Floreat Domus, Balliol Old Members from around the world share their news.
