Daniel Susskind (Balliol 2006, Career Development Fellow in Economics 20162021) has been appointed the Mercers’ School Memorial Professor of Business at Gresham College, London’s oldest higher education institution. He will take up the post this autumn.

As part of the role, Daniel will deliver six public lectures throughout the academic year. These lectures, which are free to attend both in person and online, will explore the profound impact of technology – particularly artificial intelligence – on the future of work and education.

The Gresham professorship is a prestigious appointment; past holders include Sir Christopher Wren, Sir Roger Penrose, and Sir Chris Whitty.

Commenting on the appointment, Daniel said: ‘I’m thrilled to be joining Gresham College. It’s a real privilege to be part of such an important community and to have the opportunity to talk about what I think is one of the great challenges of our time – the impact of AI on work.’
