Fellowship for graduate student

Congratulations to graduate student Felix Simon on being awarded a Knight News Innovation Fellowship at Columbia University’s Tow Center for the Study of Digital Journalism.

Felix is in his second year of reading for a DPhil in Information, Communication & Social Sciences at Balliol. As a Leverhulme Doctoral Scholar he is researching AI in journalism in the news industry at the Oxford Internet Institute. He also works as a Research Assistant at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, University of Oxford. See his web page for details of his research and publications.

Felix is one of nine new Fellows to be announced by the Tow Center, an institute within Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism which hosts a variety of diverse research projects that explore innovation at the intersection of journalism and technology. In line with his DPhil research, as a Knight News Innovation Fellow Felix will be researching the structural implications of AI in the news for the public arena: his project is described here.
