New ramp installed

The new ramp in the Front Quad is now complete and awaiting its wrought iron railings.

Going down the steps from the porch to the Front Quad, the ramp makes the front entrance to Balliol accessible for people with disabilities for the first time. The installation of wrought iron railings (due early in the new year) will mark the end of the refurbishment of the Broad Street entrance and Lodge; work began in August 2019; the Lodge reopened in March 2020 and wrought-iron electronic gates were installed in July 2020.

Balliol has also been able to improve accessibility for visitors to the College by restoring the paths in the Fellows’ Garden in April 2020.
