Professor Oladipo Akinkugbe 1933–2020

We have been greatly saddened to learn of the death of Professor Oladipo Akinkugbe CON, MD London, DPhil Oxf, FRCP (Edinburgh), FWACP, FAS (Balliol 1962 and Honorary Fellow from 2009), on 15 June 2020.

One of Nigeria’s most respected and distinguished academics and physicians and the first Professor of Medicine in Nigeria, Professor Akinkugbe was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award in 2019, in recognition of his considerable achievements.
