Following his election as leader of the Conservative Party on 23 July 2019, the Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP (Balliol 1983) has become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Boris Johnson attended Balliol from 1983 to 1987, graduating with a BA in Classics (Literae Humaniores). While he was at Balliol, where he was a Brackenbury Scholar, he was elected President of the Oxford Union in 1986.

Boris Johnson is the fourth Prime Minister to have attended Balliol; the others were H.H. Asquith (Balliol 1869), Harold Macmillan (1912) and Edward Heath (1935).
