Undergraduate Academic Project Grants

Undergraduates may apply for grants to support projects such as travel for research or internships; academic-related projects are especially encouraged. Decisions are made on the basis of the merits of the project, which need not necessarily be related to the student’s subject.

Type of award:
Academic or academic-related
Non-academic
Eligibility or selection criteria:

All undergraduate members of Balliol. Students cannot apply for project grants after Finals, and only one project grant is awarded per student per academic year.

Amount awarded:

Project grants are in the order of £100–£500 maximum. Authorisation for payment of any grant awarded will only be made once both the report and the receipt(s) have been provided. All students are urged to seek funding assistance from their departments where applicable.

How and when to apply:

Application forms are emailed to all undergraduates at the start of Hilary Term and should be returned to the Student Finance Officer by 3rd week. Personal tutors are invited by the Student Finance Officer to comment on the proposals.

Depending on availability of funds, applications may still be considered outside the application window, and to apply, you should contact the Student Finanace Officer.

Further information:

Successful students are required to submit a brief written report, together with evidence of expenditure in the form of receipts, to the Student Finance Officer after the project has been completed.

If you have any queries about Undergraduate Project Grants, please contact the Student Finance Officer.
