Balliol is committed to maintaining a working, learning and social environment in which the rights and dignity of all members of the community are respected. In addition to harassment being a serious offence which is subject to the College’s disciplinary procedures, situations of harassment can also have a substantial impact on your wellbeing and welfare.
College harassment policy and procedure
The College’s Harassment Policy and Procedure are here; This is based on the University’s Harassment Policy, which includes a Harassment Procedure for Students (see flow chart here). Formal complaints of harassment, bullying or other inappropriate behaviour, will be investigated in line with the appropriate procedure.
Discussing a situation of harassment with a College Harassment Advisor before taking other steps can help you clarify your options and decide what to do.
University Harassment Advisor Network
If you prefer to speak to someone outside College, the University’s Harassment Advisor Network has over 400 trained harassment advisors across departments and faculties within the University. Named advisors are available who identify as black and minority ethnic, or lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans; others can advise on relationship abuse.
