Academic support
For whatever reason, it may be that while you are at Balliol academic work-related or other difficulties arise which affect your fitness to study. If so, it is important to address such difficulties as soon as possible. You are encouraged to seek help from:
- Anyone in the Wellbeing and Welfare team
- Your Personal Tutor (undergraduates) or your College Adviser (graduates) — see the College List (available from the beginning of term)
- Academic support for undergraduates, including resources in the Balliol Library, trained Study Advisers.
- Any of the other resources listed here
Financial support
The College makes some welfare-related awards and grants to students, to help students requiring access to health assessments, external counselling, or psychotherapy. In line with recommendations of the Welfare Review conducted at Balliol in 2022, we are in the process of updating the procedure for awarding such funding, which is made possible by the generous donations of Balliol alumni, to ensure clarity and transparency. We are endeavouring to complete this process during Michaelmas Term 2022.
In the meantime, if you need any help, please contact the Student Finance and Support Administrator.
See also details of additional funding help that may be available to you on the Financial Support web page.
