Professor Katherine O’Brien O’Keeffe
Katherine O’Brien O’Keeffe holds the Clyde and Evelyn Slusser Chair in English at the University of California, Berkeley.
Katherine specialises in the literary culture of Anglo-Saxon England. Her research focuses on cultural transmission, editing in manuscript cultures, and questions of agency in early medieval culture. Her current projects explore agency and surprise in Old English traditional poetry, and, on a different track, strategies of bodily satisfaction in Anglo-Saxon law.
