Balliol Ball 2017

‘It was so special seeing a thousand guests having a wonderful time. Everyone was glowing and beautifully dressed up - and so was college itself!’ was how Ball President (and second-year PPE undergraduate) Juliet Flamank described the Balliol Ball on 6 May 2017.

On arrival, guests enjoyed bubbly and a jazz band. Mocktails, canapés, sweet potato fries, fish and chip parcels, a hog roast and sticky toffee pudding were among the food and drink on offer. Non-musical entertainments included a chocolate fountain, gymnasts in the Fellows’ Garden and glitter artists. On the JCR DJ stage were Gaetano Iannetta, Burning Down The House and Malachi Rayner, while on the main stage performances by Garfunkel, Patchwork, Violets and DFO led up to the headline act, Heatwave, which was followed by a silent disco for those who continued partying into the small hours. 

‘Organising a ball was always going to be a challenge and took a year of hard work from all the committee, but we’ve genuinely loved the whole process,’ said Juliet. ‘We’d like to thank all the guests and everyone involved in putting the night together, and hope you all enjoyed the evening as much as we did.’
