Balliol graduate student gains place on Royal Veterinary College programme

Balliol graduate student Sophie AveryCongratulations to Balliol graduate student Sophie Avery, who has recently gained a place on the Royal Veterinary College’s Accelerated Graduate Entry Veterinary Medicine Programme, to begin in September 2017.

Sophie read Physiological Sciences at Balliol as an undergraduate, and subsequently undertook her MSc and DPhil in Neuroscience with the College, supported by a Wellcome Trust Doctoral Studentship and a Phizackerley Senior Scholarship. On hearing the news, Sophie said, ‘I’ve taken somewhat of a circuitous route into Veterinary Medicine, though am thrilled and excited to begin this new chapter of my career. Armed with the skill set I have learnt as a scientist, I intend to train as a specialist surgeon, and believe I really could make tracks in advancing Veterinary Medicine.’
