As well as the information below, the University Orientation Guide is a very helpful introduction to Oxford.
Visas and immigration
If you are coming from outside the UK, ensure that your passport and visa are in order now.
The University has helpful webpages about visas and immigration, student visas, pre-settled/settled status and indefinite leave to remain.
Banking
Guidance on opening a bank account can be found can be found on the University’s international students webpage (‘Finances and Banks’ tab).
If you intend to bring money into the UK, you need to read about the relevant government regulations.
If you need an enrolment certificate to open a bank account, please print one yourself using your Student Self-Service, then you may bring it to Genny Teague in the College Office (room 3) to be stamped and signed.
Language training
Oxford University Language Centre offers language courses for study and research as well as an English for Academic Studies programme for international students whose first language is not English.
Further information
Please read the University’s guidance for International Freshers. These pages include information about finding your way to Oxford from airports and Eurostar (note that some transport operators will require face coverings and may have other rules which you should check), an International Students handbook, and other pre-arrival resources. There are also additional resources about the University’s international profile.
Storage
Unfortunately, due to restricted storage space, it is not possible to offer a storage facility for offerholders prior to arrival in Oxford. For details of vacation store rooms, see the graduate accommodation page.
