Financial Support

This page lists all the financial support that is available to current Balliol students. If you experience any financial difficulties while you are at Balliol or have any financial support enquiries, please contact the Student Finance Officer at student.finance@balliol.ox.ac.uk. For other information relating to finances, please see Financial Information.

University funding support includes the Oxford Assistance Fund (open to graduates and undergraduates) and for undergraduates there is also the Student Support Bursary.

In addition, Balliol makes some welfare- and financial assistance-related grants to students. These grants can fund:

  • Reimbursement for laptop repair (up to £100), laptop purchase (up to £200) and laptop accessories such as stands, keyboard, screen extenders (up to £50; does not include chargers, cables, batteries, desks, etc.). Please contact student.finance@balliol.ox.ac.uk with evidence of purchase and/or payment.
  • Some funding towards core text books (students must contact student.finance@balliol.ox.ac.uk or their Tutors/College Advisors in advance of purchase).
  • Exceptional personal travel costs. These must be discussed and agreed in advance.

Examples of what the College’s financial aid support cannot fund include:

  • Dental treatment or private healthcare, e.g. private therapy, private counselling, medication and prescription charges.
  • ADHD or ASD diagnoses.
  • Deposits for rental accommodation and College accommodation charges.
  • Tuition fees and continuation charges.
  • Purchase or repair of mobile phones (and contracts).
  • Motor vehicle repairs and running costs.
  • Legal fees.
  • Veterinary fees.
  • Payments to dependants.
  • Household appliances.
  • Nursery or childcare fees.

If you are unsure about financial assistance and whether the College might be able to support you please contact student.finance@balliol.ox.ac.uk.
