Georgina Horlick Childcare Bursaries

Georgina Horlick Childcare Bursaries

Childcare bursaries may be available to children at the Balliol Day Nursery whose parents are undergraduate or postgraduate students at Balliol.

Balliol operates a small friendly Day Nursery on the ground floor of an Edwardian house in Rawlinson Road, North Oxford, with six members of staff including the Manager and Deputy. It has built an outstanding reputation, based on its family atmosphere, dedicated staff, fun activities, and happy children. Following its most recent Ofsted inspection in 2015, Balliol Day Nursery was judged as outstanding in every area.

The Nursery has 16 places for children from 3 months to 5 years. It operates as a mixed-aged group setting; the children are cared for all together. It is open weekdays from 8.45am to 5.00pm, for 46 weeks per year, with closed periods at Christmas, Easter, and in August.

Type of award
Non-academic
Eligibility or selection criteria

Available to current undergraduate or postgraduate students at Balliol.

Amount awarded

The amount of the bursary is set each year in the spring for the next academic year and depends upon the contribution of the donor and the number of students currently holding them.

How and when to apply

Students should first apply for a place in the Balliol Nursery. Once a place has been secured, please contact the Student Finance Officer to express interest. Although the bursary can only be used in the Balliol Nursery, a place in the nursery does not guaratee that a bursary will be available.
