Divine Narratives in early Greece and the ancient Near East

This international conference brings together scholars from the UK, Europe and the US in order to foster informed interdisciplinarity in the approach to one of the most important and vibrant issues in ancient world scholarship: the interaction between the civilisations of the Near East and Archaic and Classical Greece.

The conference saw a large audience witness the first ever cross-fertilisation of methods and insights from our two different fields – Classics and Near Eastern studies – around the theme of narratives dealing with the history and power of the gods. The organisers have submitted the conference papers as a volume proposal to Cambridge University Press.
