Balliol has a long and successful tradition in legal education, with many former students pursuing careers as solicitors and barristers and a number going on to be judges. The undergraduates run the Balliol Law Society – the Younger Society – which arranges many social events, including the annual dinner in December, where current students have the opportunity to meet representatives of almost every branch of the legal profession, ranging from recent graduates to Law Lords. But the dinner also demonstrates that not all Balliol Law undergraduates end up in legal practice. Other destinations include the theatre, media, merchant banking, academia and, of course, politics.

The College has an outstanding Law Library, located on the Library staircase. The Law Library has a large collection of Law reports and texts, and computer resources are also readily available for Balliol lawyers.

Number of places at Balliol: 6.
