  • Core subject area: Greek and Latin language
  • Teaching: Mr Chambers is responsible for teaching Greek and Latin prose composition for Mods, which includes extensive consolidation of grammar and syntax in the first two terms and weekly practice compositions thereafter. He also prepares Lit. Hum. Course 2 students for the Second Classical Language papers at Greats, and assists CAAH students with their Latin.
  • Reasearch interests: In a career in school and college teaching lasting over thirty years Mr Chambers has covered a lot of Classical subjects, preparing students for A-level Greek, Latin, Classical Civilisation and Ancient History. He has reviewed for a number of journals, and written for Omnibus on subjects as diverse as Zenobia, Queen of Palmyra and Auguste Rodin. He is currently focusing his interests on Dido and on homosexuality in Roman culture.
