Professor Manuela Zaccolo

MD Turin
Professor of Cell Biology, Fellow and Tutor in Biomedical Sciences

Academic subject(s):

Biomedical Sciences
Medical Sciences
  • Core subject area: Pre-clinical medicine.
  • Teaching: Manuela’s career has developed between the Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, the Institute of Molecular Medicine in Padova and the University of Glasgow.
  • Research interests: Her research focuses on how cells sense external stimuli and how these are processed to produce a functional outcome. She is trying to uncover the architectural and regulatory principles by which intracellular signalling networks achieve the plasticity and context-sensitivity necessary for a cell to function and she is interested in understanding how alteration of these networks may be responsible for the development of human pathologies.
