  • Core subject area: Animal development, evolution, and comparative genomics. 
  • Teaching: Undergraduate courses in animal evolution and in developmental biology and its interface with human health and disease. Postgraduate residential course in biodiversity. 
  • Research interests: The genomic and developmental basis for the evolution of animal body form. This includes study of some key transitions in animal evolution, such as the origin of vertebrates, and ranges from the interface between evolutionary genomics and aspects of human biology to the effect of possible future climate change on the development of marine organisms.
