Balliol students Eleanor Shearer (right) and Elettra ArdissinoTwo Balliol students will be in the 72nd Women’s Boat Race on 2 April 2017.

Eleanor Shearer, a third-year undergraduate reading History and Politics, is the cox in the women’s Blue boat. At number six in the women’s reserve boat, Osiris, is postgraduate Elettra Ardissino, who is reading for a MPhil in Economic and Social History.

‘We are both feeling super excited for race day, especially because of the gorgeous weather we’ve have so far,’ says Eleanor. ‘I in particular owe a lot to Balliol Boat Club, which is where I learnt to cox.’

The Cancer Research UK Boat Races will take place on 2 April 2017, at 4.35pm (women) and 5.35pm (men), and will be broadcast live on BBC television. See here videos of the crews’ preparations.

Balliol Young Alumni are invited to meet at Hammersmith Bridge for a few drinks before the event and cheer on the Oxford boats - especially the Balliol women.
