The Master, College Members and staff celebrated the completion of Balliol’s Kitchen Project last week, with drinks in the newly refurbished Buttery and tours of the new kitchen.
In the Buttery the once-dark space has been opened up, allowing light to flood in. Old features such as the wood panelling have been integrated into the new design, while brand-new bar equipment means that the Buttery will be able to provide a much higher level of service. The adjacent area where the archives used to be housed has also been turned into a bright and airy room. Together the two areas make a flexible space with fine views of the Garden Quad, which can be used separately or together for seminars, tutorials, receptions or private events.
If you are interested in holding an event in the Buttery, please contact Jacqui Fossey (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
The year-long project includes the installation of a disabled lift to Hall and the refurbishment of the SCR pantry. The work was done by construction company Beard Ltd in association with Sidleys Chartered Surveyors.
