It is mandatory in Balliol College to have an up-to-date virus checker on your computer if you are connected to the network. Do not assume that, because you have an program icon on your desktop, your anti-virus program is installed, activated or has not expired!
For all anti-virus products it is essential that you keep the software up-to-date; any anti-virus product which has not been updated within the last WEEK is ineffective!

Once installed all of these programs will need to update their virus databases once they are connected to the live network. You should run them as soon as possible to see the state of your machine.
