The College welcomes all gifts, particularly to support three main areas:
- The Annual Fund, which benefits current students at Balliol in five main ways: additional hardship/access grants; extra tutorial support; improved IT facilities; enhanced student accommodation; and funds for 'extra-curricular' activities such as sport and drama.
- For the College's endowment. The endowment is vital because it provides an additional source of annual income to the College. Gifts to the endowment are invested in such a way as to preserve the long-term value of the capital held.
- For capital projects. For example, we need to build more student accommodation as we cannot provide study bedrooms for all our students. Money is also needed to conserve the College's historic buildings and collections.
Without the help of Old Members and other supporters, Balliol will not be able to provide the kind of education and opportunities for which it is justly famous.
