The Royal Society has announced its new Fellows for 2012, and the list includes four Old Members of Balliol.

Ian Farrell (1984) has been nominated for a 'inspirational teacher' award by his ex-pupil Joe Rolleston - currently in his first year at Corpus Christi College.

Thursday 19 April

Jeffrey Gettleman (1994) has won a Pulitzer Prize for international reporting.

Wednesday 21 March

Oxford beat Cambridge at Oxford Town Hall on Sunday 18 March, in the Varsity Judo match. Balliol provided the captain for the men's team, Max Denning (2010) and a member of the women's team, Rebecca Bayliss (2009).
