Dining in Hall

Food

Balliol has an excellent kitchen, managed by our award-winning Executive Head Chef, Bertrand Faucheux.

In addition to the food served in Hall, there is a cafeteria in the JCR. There are also some kitchenettes provided on the College main site as well as in the new buildings.

Hall

Food is served on the main site in the Dining Hall, a large building which dates from the nineteenth century. During term-time, the College kitchen provides lunch and dinner seven nights a week. A vegetarian option (which is sometimes vegan) is always available. Most meals are self-service but on special occasions, such as College Guest Nights, meals are served at the tables. The cheapest and most convenient way to eat in Hall is by catering pre-payment.
